Asora Pre-Order updates (9.26)

Hello everyone, hope your summer has been going well. There's a lot to update so I wanted to go over it all in this blog post.

In the last update, I had arrived back from my Japan trip around the end of the year in 2025. The last post was in June, which was right before Nationals in Las Vegas.

Right after that blog post, literally, days before Nats I received two packages I've been waiting for. One of those packages was the pre-order Asoras. However, as soon as I opened the package, I knew something was off and it made me pretty sad, but also put me into a weird situation.

I feel like you can probably see the problem from this picture, but the color of Asora was totally off. The color came out a light reddish orange, not the "Asora Pink" everyone was expecting. I spent time thinking about it, and discussing it with some of the members of the team to get their opinions on the issue. Obviously, the major issue is that everyone who placed a pre-order had been waiting for months. So receiving an error color batch after waiting all this time was pretty disheartening to me. I felt like I was left with a few options.

The first was to message FPM and see if we could send them back and get them remade/anodized. The second was to message all of the preorders and offer a refund, or the option of accepting this off color Asora. Personally, as this is one of the last runs for Asora I was leaning toward the first option, with the second being an option if FPM was unable to redo the run for us.

After a bit of back and forth with FPM about the mistake, they did eventually agree to redo the run for us. This was during nats, and during my second trip to Japan for Worlds 2026. After getting the confirmation I was planning to write a blog post when I arrived back home in the USA after my 2026 worlds trip (mid september) to update everyone. While I was on the tail end of my trip I received another update from FPM that they received the stock of 7068 and were going to put the rerun of Asora into production. That's the update for you all now. Asora's are in production and should be here soon.

Now, I'm sure that some of you are wondering "what about the 'red' Asora's?" When we were discussing the error with FPM, they did not ask for them back so we will be releasing those after the pre-orders have been sent out, and dropping them alongside any extra pink ones we have left over. So there will be a few for sale if you ended up missing the pre order, or if you prefer to pick up the reddish Asora, which our friend Yuta from yoyostore.es dubbed "another pink" which is what we'll be calling it. To be honest, the color is nice, it's just not correct, and I'm happy to release these alongside any extra pink Asora's. We don't have a confirmed date until I get them in my hands, and pre-orders will take top priority; but they should be ready for sure before the end of the year.

I've been trying to think of things I can include with the pre-orders to help make up for the extended wait time, but I'm not really sure on what to include yet. If you have any suggestions of small goodies you would like to see made or would like to receive with your pre-order please feel free to let me know. I'm thinking of home-made goodies since there's only 30ish pre-orders to fill, and with ordering stuff from manufacturers there's usually a MOQ attached to most goods.

Thank you to everyone who has been patiently waiting for a pre-order. I deeply apologize for the wait, but I want to make sure that everyone is satisfied with their order. I could not in good conscience release the reddish Asora colorway to the pre-orders. I also did not know about the lack of availability with 7068 until after the order was placed. I also want to thank FPM for being really good about this whole ordeal. I understand anodization can be quite tough to get right, but I also know that over their years of me ordering Asora, they have nailed the color every single time, so I could not accept this color, it was too far off.

You can see in the picture below (red) Asora 03, Asora 02, Asora 01, Asora 03 and FUWA 02. This shows the consistency of their anodizing, and also the difference in color of the latest "Another Pink" Asora which is not pink, but reddish.
